Let there be one day

 

in each life when all that has gone before and

all that will come to pass, for a moment join

together to cause a sublime equation that

adds to a total beyond any expectation.

 

Let there be one day

 

when a transcendence occurs so complete the

world shudders from one human impact and the vastness of experience is contained for the  most brief second in one crying human

lurching toward extinction which is the best

can be asked of this thing we call life.

 

Let there be one day

 

when someone can look at someone else and

see beyond civilization to the exultant human

animal underneath.  It doesn't matter where it

happens anywhere in the world.  It would

only take two of us.

 

Let there be one day

 

and maybe it is you and me at this moment

when I can show you everything I have been

and everything I will be and you as well.

We are both trembling, it must count for

something.

 

Let there by one day

 

when you and I and all of us can drop

whatever load we are carrying, it will be like

Mardi Gras and we will be in the parade

together throwing bright plastic beads to the

people who are throwing bright plastic beads

to the poeple and you will look over at me

and smile.  The moment will pass.
